In 1986 I graduated from vet school and got my first yellow lab pup free from a client and little Ruby was the first of 30 years of labs.  These have been great years full of so much joy and entertainment.   A subject that endlessly fascinates me is how we bond with our pets and the love we get from them.   A dog is a source of unconditional love regardless of how you look or smell, your IQ, or your financial situation.  Daily I see "scenes" involving my own dog, or other animals at work.  This pose of "Lucy"  laying by the dishwasher with her head resting on the door is one I saw and immediately knew I would try to paint it.  I delight in these little snapshots full of humor, quirkiness, or intimacy .  If you have a snapshot that fits this description with your own pet and would let me use it as a "model" please let me know!
